One idea, with the details together.
Our guides are built around simple activities for a small group at home: making something, sharing food, or settling in for a relaxed evening. Each one brings together preparation, a suggested order of events, and a supply checklist.
The checklist starts with what you might already have. Adjust the guest count in the planner, mark the supplies in your cupboard, and use the remaining list to shop wherever works for you.
How we put a guide together.
We choose an activity that can work with common household equipment, break the preparation into manageable steps, and estimate supplies for six people. The planner scales those quantities as a starting point. Your group’s appetites, materials, and available space may call for adjustments.
Our current guides are editorial planning suggestions, not hands-on product reviews. We do not claim to have tested the products in retailer search results. Check product descriptions, quantities, suitability, and current prices before buying.
Food guides are planning suggestions rather than complete recipes. Follow the food manufacturer’s preparation, storage, and cooking instructions, and check allergies and dietary needs with your guests.
Independent recommendations.
WholeLook is independent of the retailers linked on the site. Supplies are suggested because they fit the activity; you can buy alternatives, borrow, or use what you own.
WholeLook does not currently earn commissions from shopping links. The current links are ordinary retailer links.
When affiliate links are introduced, they will be disclosed near shopping links. Our affiliate disclosure explains how those links work and how we describe estimates and illustrations.
Make it your kind of gathering.
Start with an idea, keep the parts that fit your group, and leave yourself enough room to enjoy it. Nobody needs a perfectly matching table to have a good afternoon.
