Activity steps

  1. Choose your fright-night feature,Agree on a film and scare level, check the age rating and actual runtime, and confirm access through a film you own or a service you already use. Before guests arrive, test picture, sound and subtitles on your existing screen and arrange one comfortable seat per guest.
  2. Set up the popcorn bar,For each group of six, put out one popcorn bowl and two separate mix-in bowls, with a serving spoon in each. Allow 20 grams of ready-popped popcorn, 7.5 grams of mini pretzels and 7.5 grams of chocolate candies per guest. Set out one reusable snack bowl or cup per person. Put a napkin beside each bowl if useful. If you plan to serve cocoa or warm cider, set out mugs and prepare the drinks separately; they are not included in the snack quantities.
  3. Fill your bowls and settle in,Let everyone choose their mix-ins and find a cozy seat. Keep the serving bowls on a stable table away from the seating. Dim an existing lamp, leaving enough light to find the snacks and move around. You can dress the snack table with a runner, a few decorative pumpkins and flameless pillars. Keep the decorations stable, check the lights’ battery needs, and leave normal room lighting for walking.
  4. Press play on fright night,Start the film once everyone is ready. Allow about 20 minutes for snacks and settling in, plus the film’s actual runtime; this plan uses a 90-minute film. Pause for a comfort break if the group wants one, and save extra popcorn for refills.

Use ready-popped popcorn, an existing screen, and seats you already have. Ask about food preferences ahead of time and keep mix-ins in separate bowls so everyone can choose. Bowls, napkins, mugs, blankets and decorations can all come from home; skip any suggestion that does not fit your evening.
