Costume photos
Turn a clear wall into a photo corner and capture every costume, from the dramatic solo entrance to the whole ridiculous cast.
Activity steps
- Make a simple photo corner,Choose a clear wall with room to stand back. Use it as it is, or support an existing plain sheet with suitable hardware or a stand already at home. Set an existing phone camera to photo mode and check the room lighting. If using a compatible phone tripod, set it securely outside walking routes. Hang lightweight fringe, bats or fairy lights only with suitable mounting and keep wires and battery packs out of reach; leave normal room lighting on for the photos.
- Try three character poses,Pair up to take turns photographing each other in costumes already brought to the party. Try a proud character pose, an exaggerated spooky pose, and a completely unexpected one. Draw a character caption on cardstock, or use an assembled Halloween photo prop for a still pose. A hat or mask is a personal accessory choice for its wearer; borrowing or wearing what you own works just as well.
- Gather the whole cast,Take a group photo, using the phone timer if needed. Let everyone choose the pictures they want to keep, then share them with the group if everyone pictured agrees. Check phone fit and remote compatibility before using a tripod kit, and keep prop sticks away from faces.
A plain wall and normal room lighting are enough. Borrow a phone if needed and use the costumes guests are already wearing; use any photo props you already have. A tripod, decorations and props are optional photo ideas. The suggested knitted hat is adult-sized, and masks stay with their individual wearers.
