Monster cookie decorating

Give four plain cookies a little personality. The last one gets a name and one completely ridiculous superpower.

Cookies with pastel icing and edible candy eyes

Activity steps

  1. Set up the cookie corner,Put four ready-made or fully cooled homemade cookies and two napkins at each place. Set out ready-to-spread frosting, edible candy eyes and sprinkles within reach. If you want colored frosting, tint small portions with food color before guests start. Keep finished cookies on the decorating plates in a single layer.
  2. Make a little cookie crew,Spread on frosting, add edible eyes, and use sprinkles for hair or teeth. Try a one-eyed cookie, a sleepy cookie, and a cookie that looks like a friend.
  3. Meet the monsters,Give the final cookie a name and a silly superpower. Introduce it to the table, then enjoy the cookies together. Bag plain cookies or cookies with icing that has dried firm, one small cookie per bag. Bags can smear soft frosting; serve those cookies now or use a rigid container from home, with space above the frosting and no stacking.

If baking shaped cookies beforehand, use the cutters with your own cut-out-cookie recipe and baking equipment. Bake and fully cool four cookies per guest before the party; baking and cooling are extra to the 10-minute decorating setup. Uncheck ready-made cookies if baking, or cutters if buying.
